This site is one of several demonstrating the Drupal content management system with multiple Web sites working from one database. The Domain Access module adds additional magic to the wizardry built into Drupal, resulting in supreme flexibility with the minimum of fuss. The combination replaces complex technical steps with simple online switches to select everything you need and related forms where you can enter your own descriptions of everything. You can replace your smart 20 year old Web administrator with an average 10 year old.

Managing a Web site is tough enough without having to learn programming, HTML, CSS, XHTML, Javascript, XML, SQL, and a long list of other complexities. Drupal reduces the need to learn most technologies. The latest release of Drupal, Drupal 6, removes many of the remaining complexities related to single Web sites and some of the complexities related to building multiple Web sites in one online system. There are many ways to server multiple Web sites from one system and Drupal solves many of the problems with some combinations.

Domain Access solves the problems of serving the remaining combinations of multiple Web sites from one system. Drupal works well when you can allocate one database per Web site. Domain Access gives you the tools to work with one database for all the sites. Drupal handles additional exotic combinations of Web sites and databases through manual settings and database creation. Domain Access lets you keep one database then subdivide parts of the database to your requirements using only the online administration screens.

examplea.net, exampleb.net, examplec.net, examplea.org, exampleb.org, examplec.org, examplea.cn, exampleb.cn, and examplec.cn are all running from one database on one server. All the sites share this page because all the sites share the one content table. Drupal contains everything you need to handle content. Domain Access adds the controls to direct content to specific Web sites and to share some of the content across all the sites. You select what you want using online administration pages without touching code or the internals of the Web site.
